The BPM Festival has cancelled its Brazil edition.

BPM Festival organisers have issued a statement on Facebook regarding its future events following the deadly shooting at Blue Parrot in January. The statement declares that its planned events in Brazil are postponed “until further notice”.

The BPM Festival was set to celebrate its 10th anniversary at its Brazilian event between Friday 28th April and Monday 1st May, in the beach resort towns of Itajaí and Balneário Camboriú.

Following the tragic shootings that left six dead on the last night of The BPM Festival in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico in January, it was reported that the event will not be held in Playa del Carmen again, before Mexican authorities were said to announce that all electronic music festivals would be banned in the city.

Speaking in the statement that announced the cancellation of the Brazilian event, The BPM Festival said, “We appreciate all the support from fans all over the world. We look forward to celebrating with you once again in the near future. For now, we will be postponing our plans for The BPM Festival: Brazil until further notice but we do hope you will join us at The BPM Festival: Portugal (September 2017) later this year.”

The planned event in Portugal in September is still scheduled to go ahead.
