Sennheiser has announced details on a new pair of headphones that can record 3D audio to your smartphone.
The new headphones named Ambeo Smart Surround headphones were publicised last week at the CES show in Las Vegas. These in-ear headphones come with two in-ear microphones capable of capturing binaural audio as it reaches the ears. This will allow users to record sound just as they hear it.
Previously only used in the pro user world, Binaural audio has been around since the 1960s. This type of audio recording creates a 3D sound effect by recording sound with two microphones.
Sennheiser are looking to bring this unique technology to the general public, so everyone can experience this distinctive way of listening to audio.
The Ambeo headphones can be used on iOS and Android platforms using Apple’s Lightning connector or USB-C to record multiple audio channels on the user’s smartphone. The audio can then be played back through the heJanuary 17, 2017
