SoundCloud has announced that DJ mixes will no longer be removed for copyright infringement.

The company who has now reached deals with licensing groups to stop DJ mixes being removed for free and paying subscribers. Alongside this, listening to music will now be ad-free.

Previously artists could have their mixes removed or accounts deleted if uploaded music matched material on a database of tracks that copyright holders had asked SoundCloud to block.  

Eric Wahlforss, the streaming service's co-founder and CTO, stated in an interview: "This means that DJ mixes are now legal and problem-free on SoundCloud. So this is very positive news for DJs. Furthermore, mixes should not be interrupted by advertising."

Both Apple and Spotify currently offer legal and unofficial mixes so it was only a matter of time before SoundCloud offered this option for DJs too. Overall this is great news for DJs.
